  1. Baker clamp

A Baker clamp is an electronic circuit that reduces the storage and fall time of a bipolar junction transistor BJT this storage time is the limiting factor of using bipolar transistors and IGBT s in fast switching applications. The reason for slow turn off times of BJTs is that charge is stored in the base collector region, and takes considerable time to discharge. This effect occurs when the transistor is driven into saturation. The diode based Baker clamp works by preventing the transistor from going into saturation. ref cite book title Power switching Converters author Simon S. 1. Storage clamp

Image Zuckerr benberg.jpg thumb a clamp of sugar beet, not covered A storage clamp is used in the agriculture agricultural industry for temporary storage of root crops such as potato , turnip , rutabaga swede , mangelwurzel , sugar beet etc. A clamp is formed by excavating a shallow rectangular depression in a field to make a base for the clamp. Root crops are then stacked onto the base up to a height of about 2 metres. When the clamp is full, the earth scraped from the field to make the base is then used to cover the root crops to a depth of several inches. Straw or old hay may be used to protect the upper surface from rain erosion. A well made clamp will keep the vegetables cool and dry for many months. Most clamps are relatively long and narrow, allowing the crops to be progressively removed from one end without disturbing the remaining vegetables. A clamp connection is a structure formed by growing hyphal cells of certain fungi . Before the clamp connection is formed this terminal septa contains two nuclei depicted as green and orange circles in Figure 3 . Once the terminal septa is long enough it begins to form the clamp connection. At the same time each nuclei undergoes mitotic division to produce two daughter cells. As the clamp continues to develop it uptakes one of the daughter green circle cells produced and separates it from its sister cell. While this is occurring the remaining nuclei orange circles begin to migrate from one another to opposite ends of the cell. 1. Magazine clamp

Unreferenced date December 2009 Orphan date February 2009 A magazine clamp is an accessory for detachable firearm magazine firearm magazine s that allows the user to affix together multiple magazine firearm magazine s. The clamp facilitates reloading of firearms by reducing movement and actions performed for reloading. Normally extra magazines are stored in pouches worn on the body when reloading, the user has to go through a large range of motion from pouch to firearm. Furthermore, depending on the user s stance, ammunition pouches may not be easily accessible e.g. when prone . However, when equipped with a magazine clamp, the wielder of the weapon only has to shift the depleted magazine left or right to the next fresh magazine. Magazine clamps come in different varieties. There are actual clamps that consist of adjustable arms and a screw mechanism to tighten the arms. There are also magazine firearm magazine specific clamps that can only be used with certain magazines. For the ill prepared, magazine clamps are easily improvised in the field with some kind of binding material usually some kind of cloth or electrical tape , and something to space the magazines apart so they do not interfere with each other when reloading. A Riser clamp is a device used by mechanical building trades to support vertical runs of piping at each floor level. The devices are placed around the pipe and integral fasteners are then tightened to clamp them onto the pipe. The friction between the pipe and riser transfers the weight of the pipe through the riser to the building structure. Risers are generally located at floor penetrations, particularly for continuous floor slabs such as concrete. They may also be located at some other interval as dictated by local building codes or at intermediate intervals to support plumbing which has been altered or repaired. Heavier piping types such as cast iron require more frequent support. Ordinarily, riser clamps are made of carbon steel and individually sized to fit certain pipe sizes. The term riser is typically used to refer to vertical runs of pipes, electrical conduit and tubes. Category Piping Category Plumbing ...   more details
