  1. Electronic carillon

Orphan date February 2009 Electronic carillon is a blanket term used to refer to an automated system which emulates a carillon . These systems simulate bell sounds by amplifying the sound made by striking tubular bell s or metal rods. Systems may also use recordings of bells and play them back from tape, compact disc, or memory chip. The sound will then be played from loudspeakers housed in a bell tower . Due to the costs associated with installing, maintaining, and operating traditional carillons, many churches and universities now utilize these types of systems. Electronic carillons utilize an internal clock which determines when chimes will be played. The system may also contain a calendar which will allow seasonal music to be played. The Westminster Quarters are commonly programmed to chime the hour and its divisions. References Unreferenced date February 2007 Category Carillons Musical instrument stub ...   more details
