    Image Campsielong.JPG thumb 300px The Campsie Fells from Bar Hill above Twechar The Campsie Fells are a range of hills in central Scotland , stretching east to west, from Denny Muir to Dumgoyne , in Stirlingshire . The southern extent of the range fall within East Dunbartonshire . The highest point in the range is Earl s Seat which is 578  m 1897 feet high. The range overlooks the villages of Strathblane , Blanefield and Lennoxtown to the South, Killearn to the West and Fintry to the North. The Fintry Hills lie further to the North, Kilpatrick Hills lie to the West and the Kilsyth Hills to the east. The name is taken from one of the individual hills in the range, called Campsie meaning crooked fairy hill , from the Scottish Gaelic cam , meaning crooked, and s th meaning fairy. Fells originates from the Old Norse word fjal , meaning hill. Erosion along the line of a geological fault known as the Campsie Fault has left tiers of rock representing some 30 lava flows which date from the Carboniferous period. Their greatest success in US came in 1981 when their song Zulu song Zulu spent two weeks at 1 on the US Hot Dance Music Club Play chart. McFarlane and Campsie originally met in California in 1978, and began working together when they returned to England, taking the name The Quick . Their debut single, Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot, was released on Epic Records in 1979. In 1981, the duo s single, Hip Shake Jerk, became a hit in Australia, reaching 12, and their first album, On the Uptake was quickly released there. Remixed and repackaged as One Light in a Blackout in Canada and Fascinating Rhythm in Europe , the album was released to the rest of the world in 1982, spawning a United States U.S. dance hit, Zulu .
