    Josiah Boydell 18 January 1752 in Wales 1752 &ndash 27 March 1817 in Wales 1817 was a British publisher and painter, whose main achievement was the establishment of the Boydell Shakespeare Gallery with his uncle, John Boydell . Biography Josiah was born in Hawarden , Flintshire historic Flintshire , the fourth child of a farmer, Samuel Boydell 1727&ndash 1783 , and his wife Ann, n e Turner 1725&ndash 1764 . In 1766, at the age of 14, he moved to London to begin his seven year apprenticeship to Samuel s brother, John Boydell. Brewer, whose founders, Richard Barber and Derek Brewer , were themselves scholars.     Image William tassie portrait.jpg thumb right William Tassie depicted in about 1833 in an image reduced from a wax medallion, probably by Jacob Hagbolt William Tassie 1777&ndash 26 October 1860 was a gem engraver and cameo modeller of Scottish descent, who worked in London in the early 19th century. He took over the business of his uncle, James Tassie , after James s death in 1799. On 28 January 1805, William Tassie won the Boydell Shakespeare Gallery and its painting collection in a lottery held to pay off the debts of its owner, John Boydell . Tassie s three guinea ticket won the top prize among the 22,000 sold. Boydell had died just before the drawing. His nephew Josiah Josiah Boydell offered to buy the gallery and its paintings back from Tassie for 10,000, but Tassie refused and auctioned the paintings at Christie s . ref Friedman, 4, 87 90 Merchant, 70 75. ref The painting collection and two reliefs by Anne Seymour Damer Anne Damer fetched a total of 6,181 18s. 6d.     John Elliot Doctor of Medicine MD 1747 22 July 1787 was a physician and scientist in eighteenth century London who was the first person to conjecture that different parts of the retina respond to particular colours of light. However, he was obsessed with Mary Boydell, daughter of the publisher John Boydell , and in 1787 was arrested for attempting to murder her.     For the American journalist and newscaster Ann Curry Anne Elizabeth Curry who publishes as Anne Curry and A. E. Curry is a British historian. She is Professor of Medieval history at the University of Southampton , former editor of the Journal of Medieval History , and a specialist in the Hundred Years War , especially the Battle of Agincourt .
