It consisted of exhibitions about industry, art and crafts from Sweden, Denmark , Germany and Russia at the time the four countries around the Baltic Sea . Thow the city doesn t have beaches at the Baltic Sea, but at resund . The Baltic games were held at the same time, the swimming competitions lasting for 12 days and attracted many internationally well known athletes. Many of Malm s parks were reconstructed for that occasion, and most notably a large new park, Pildammsparken , was founded. Although most of the buildings constructed for the exhibition was removed shortly after, some remnants can still be found here. The First World War interrupted the exhibition since both Germany and Russia came to be involved in the war on different sides. After the war Russia had ceased to exist and some parts of the Russian art displayed in Malm remained here and was eventually incorporated into the city s own collections.
