File Maurice Quentin de La Tour Mademoiselle Sall .jpg thumb 200px div align center Mademoiselle Sall by Maurice Quentin de La Tour 1741 BR small Lisbon, Museu Calouste Gulbenkian Calouste Gulbenkian Museum small div Marie Sall 1707 1756 was a French dancer and choreographer known for her expressive, dramatic performances rather than a series of leaps and frolics typical of ballet of her time. As a choreographer she integrated music , costume s, and dance styles of her ballets with their themes, thereby anticipating the reforms made by choreographer Jean Georges Noverre in the late 18th century. She changed the costume from heavy long dress to muslin flowing material which caused shock and delight. Sall studied with ballerina Fran oise Pr vost , who sponsored her debut in 1721 at the Acad mie Royale de Musique Paris Op ra . It is also thought possible that she studied with Jean Balon, who worked at the Paris Op ra. Her initial performances took place at Lincoln s Inn Fields Theatre at London , where she performed dances from George Frideric Handel s opera Rinaldo opera Rinaldo . In 1734 she was engaged by John Rich producer John Rich to perform at Covent Garden she danced in Terpsichore , a prologue to a revision of Handel s Il pastor fido , and in the premieres of the same composer s Alcina and Ariodante . Gioacchino Conti 28 February 1714 25 October 1761 , best known as Gizziello , was an Italy Italian soprano castrato opera singer. File Gizziello Gioacchino Conti.jpg thumb Gioacchino Conti. Biography Conti was born in Arpino . After studying in Naples with Domenico Gizzi , whom he would later be dubbed after, he made his debut in Rome at a young age, in Leonardo Vinci s Artaserse 1730 . His career led him throughout Europe and especially to London , where he was engaged by Georg Friedrich H ndel H ndel , with whom he would build up profitable collaboration relations. Conti performed in many of his works, such as Atalanta opera Atalanta , Giustino , Berenice opera Berenice and Arminio , as well as in a revival of Ariodante . He executed later many first performances for the best famed musicians of his time, including Niccol Jommelli Manlio , 1746 , Baldassare Galuppi Artaserse , 1751 and Johann Adolf Hasse Demetrio opera Demetrio , 1747 . After 1759 Conti left the stage and settled in Rome, where he spent the last two years of his life. Being a very sharp sopranist for his time H ndel got him to repeatedly reach up to C musical note C6 , Conti was not quite well disposed towards abuse of coloratura and he chose rather to turn to better account his fluent and smooth style of rendering and expression he has thus remained famous as a sentimental and gentle singer, but he also always kept, of course, a condition of absolute excellence at vocal virtuosity, even though not so acrobatic as, for instance, that of his contemporary and friend Farinelli .
