Life After the death of his elder brothers Amnon and Absalom , he became heir apparent to the throne, but Solomon , a younger brother, was preferred to him. Adonijah, however, when his father was dying, caused himself to be proclaimed king. Though being the second son, Daniel was not a contender for the throne of Israel, even after the death of the first born Amnon, the third born Absalom and fourth born Adonijah. The throne eventually passed to his younger half brother, Solomon . Daniel is known as Daluyah in the Septuagint . According to Rashi , some questioned whether Abigail was pregnant through David or her first husband, Nabal therefore, God arranged that Daniel would resemble David. En rogel Hebrew language Hebrew yn r g l was a famous land mark near Jerusalem . It was the hiding place of David s spies, Jonathan and Ahimaaz 2 Sam. 17 17 , and lay close to the stone Zoheleth where Adonijah held a sacrificial feast when he attempted to assert his claims to the throne 1 Kings 1 9 . In later times it was one of the boundary marks between Kingdom of Judah Judah and Benjamin Josh. 15 7, 18 16 . The obviously sacred character of the spring suggests that it is the same as the Dragon Well of Neh. 2 13. ref name EB There can be little doubt of its antiquity, and it may well have been a sacred place in pre Israelite times. The meaning of the name and its identification are uncertain. ref name EB The interpretation Fuller s Well does not bear the mark of antiquity. It is probable that, like Zoheleth, the original name had some sacred or mythic significance. ref name EB Two identifications of the place have met with considerable favour 1 the Virgin s fountain Ain Sitti Maryam , later Ain Umm ed Deraj, the only real spring close to Jerusalem, exactly opposite to which lies ez Zehweleh, perhaps Zoheleth and 2 Bir Eyyub, otherwise known as the Well of Nehemiah, at the junctiion of the W. er Rababi and Kedron. Against the latter it is urged that Bir Eyyub is a well, not a spring, that it lies too far from ez Zehweleh, that it is in full view of the city, and does not suit the context of 2Sam. 17 17, and that its antiquity is uncertain. The chief points in favour of 1 which Baed. identifies with Gihon are its antiquity and the evidence of Josephus . Anti. vii. 14 4 , who places the well in the royal gardens. Other arguments based upon the fact that in later times the well was used by fulling fullers are necessarily precarious. ref name EB En rogel , Encyclopedia Biblica ref References reflist Biblica tanakh stub Category Hebrew Bible geography fr En rogel ...   more details

  1. Arent Schuyler

Arent Schuyler was born in Rensselaerswyck Albany , New York on June 25, 1662 and died in Belleville, New Jersey on November 26, 1730. A member of the influential Schuyler family among the first settlers to New Netherland during his life time he was a surveyor, Indian agent , miner, merchant, and land speculator. Schuyler participated in the military actions against the French and American Indians in Canada in the 1690s. In 1694, Schuyler travelled into north western New Jersey to investigate rumors that the French were trying to incite the local Lenni Lenape population to rebel against the English. Schuyler found no evidence of a rebellion, but discovered a Pompton River rich fertile valley where the Lenni Lenape grew a variety of crops. Schuyler reported his findings to the English and then convinced Major Anthony Brockholst, Samuel Bayard, Samuel Berry, Hendrick and David Mandeville, George Ryerson and John Mead to invest in the purchase of the land he referred to as the Pompton Valley. The seven chose Schuyler to be negotiator with the Lenape for the rights to the area. Samual Bayard, however, was chosen to negotiate with the East Jersey Company which maintained land rights over the area that is now Wayne.
