Wadi Qelt
An Olive Tree at the Wadi site. Wadi Qelt, Wadi al-Qult Wadi el-Qult or Wadi Qult (Hebrew: ??? ???, Nahal Prat) is a wadi ( ) or valley within the Jordan Valley, one mile south of Jericho, and near the Dead Sea in the West Bank, part of the Palestinian territories. It is home to a variety of fauna including hyraxes to gazelles and also to the Greek Orthodox Monastery Saint George. The site was home to the winter palace of King Herod, and part of it was declared a nature reserve by the Israeli army and given the name Nahal Prat. It is visited by Israelis and Palestinians alike, however frequent movement restrictions imposed on Palestinians by the Israeli army severely restrict their access. In addition, a portion of the area will be further closed off to Palestinians because of annexation by the Israeli West Bank barrier declared illegal in 2004 by the International Court of Justice in The Hague.[1] ReferencesExternal links
