Wolfram Research is an international company that summarizes its aim as "Pushing the Envelope of Technical Computing". The main product of Wolfram Research is Mathematica, an environment for technical computing. The founder and CEO of Wolfram Research is Stephen Wolfram, scientist and author, who maintains close involvement with the development of Mathematica.

Software

The primary software product of Wolfram Research is the program Mathematica, which has, as of May 2007, undergone an upgrade with version 6 that the company describes as "the most important upgrade in the application?s 20-year history."^[1] Other products include Wolfram Workbench, gridMathematica, and webMathematica.

Publishing

Wolfram Research publishes the Mathematica journal and has published several books via Wolfram Media, Wolfram's publishing arm^[2].

Public services

In addition to its commercial products, Wolfram Research publishes several, free of charge, public servicesincluding the MathWorld and ScienceWorld encyclopedia sites.

Consulting

Wolfram Research served as the mathematical consultant for the CBS television series Numb3rs, a show about the mathematical applications of crime-solving.
