Senior Marine

Senior Marine was a prominent English boatbuilding company of Southampton, Hampshire during the 1960s and early 1970s. The company manufactured three glass fibre (GRP) hull mouldings:

Senior Marine hull mouldings were also sold to a number of other boat builders. Common examples included the Eastwood 24, an open plan estuary-cum-sheltered coastal water motorboat, more often than not fitted with a BMC 1500cc diesel engine; the RLM 27; the ever popular Princess 32 (often seen on the River Thames even to this day); the Project 31; and the RLM 31 Bahama and RLM 32 Entice.

Senior Marine-manufactured hulls and fitted-out boats were considered solid, sturdy boats, whereas the likes of the Eastwood 24, RLM 27 and Princess 32 variants were more for the inland water market where many can still be seen today.

Most, if not all, of the Senior Marine hulls were fitted with inboard engine(s) with out-drives; the Perkins 4107 and 4108 (50hp) diesel engines were the engine of choice for most boatbuilders, and were coupled to single or twin Enfield Stern Drives, also referred to as 'Z' Drives.
