The Municipality of Bucharest (the capital of Romania) is divided into six administrative sectors (sectoare in Romanian), each of which has their own mayor and council, and has responsibility over local affairs, such as secondary streets, parks, schools and the cleaning services.

Each of the six sectors contains a number of informal districts (cartiere) which have no administrative function:

• Sector 1: Doroban?i, B?neasa, Avia?iei, Pipera, Aviatorilor, Prim?verii, Roman?, Victoriei, Her?str?u, Bucure?tii Noi, D?m?roaia, Str?ule?ti, Chitila, Grivi?a, 1 Mai, Pajura, Domenii and a small part of Giule?ti - the part with Giule?ti Stadium
• Sector 2: Pantelimon, Colentina, Iancului, Tei, Floreasca, Mo?ilor, Obor, Vatra Luminoas?, Fundeni, ?tefan cel Mare
• Sector 3: Vitan, Dude?ti, Titan, Centrul Civic, Balta Alb?, Dristor, Lipscani, Muncii, Unirii
• Sector 4: Berceni, Olteni?ei, V?c?re?ti, Timpuri Noi, Tineretului
• Sector 5: Rahova, Ferentari, Cotroceni, 13 Septembrie, Dealul Spirii
• Sector 6: Giule?ti, Crânga?i, Drumul Taberei, Militari, Groz?ve?ti (also known as Regie), Ghencea
