Scout quartermaster
The quartermaster (QM) is responsible for all the troop kit in a Scout troop, both in the stores and on camp. In the United Kingdom, the QM is often an assistant leader, or a parent. In some countries, the job of QM is carried out by one or more of the Scouts. The Sea Scout program also has a Quartermaster position. The Quartermaster often has a reputation for being "overprotective" - rather like a strict librarian ? but is generally just trying to ensure the safety of the troop's kit. In the Boy Scouts of America, the position of quartermaster exists for both the adults and boys of a troop. The adult has physical custody of the equipment, while the youth quartermaster is in charge of coordinating the equipment needs of the troop with the available gear. In Sea Scouting BSA, Quartermaster is one of the four ranks. It is the highest rank attainable by a Sea Scout, and is equivalent to Eagle Scout, or Venturing Silver Award See also
