Rockhampton Regional Council
Location in Queensland Rockhampton Regional Council is a Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area was created on March 15, 2008 as a result of Local Government Reform undertaken by the State Government.
HistoryRockhampton Regional Council was formed by the Queensland Government in 2008 by amalgamating four smaller councils. These councils were:
StructureThe Council consists of a Mayor and ten Councillors. The Mayor is elected by the public, and the Councillors are elected from ten single member divisions using an optional preferential voting system. Elections are held every four years. The last Mayor of Rockhampton before the 2008 amalgamation was Margaret Strelow. The nine departments that council operate are:
