Regions of Greece

The regions (, lit. geographic departments) are the traditional (and until 1987 official) subnational divisions of Greece, still widely used in daily discourse. There are 10 regions[1] (seven on the mainland and three island groups), which are further subdivided into 54 prefectures.

  4. Epirus
  5. Central Greece
  6. Attica[3]
  7. Peloponnese
  8. Aegean Islands
  9. Ionian Islands
  10. Crete
