QStar Technologies was founded in 1987 in Bethesda, Maryland by Brian Swafford. Initially designed to support large format optical drives on the SunOS platform, Qstar Technologies produce an array of software and hardware for storage management solutions on 18 different operating systems.

QStar?s European headquarters was established in Milan, Italy in 1994. The company's corporate headquarters is located in Mary Esther, Florida. Today QStar is represented around the world through a network of distributors and resellers.

QStar works to develop storage management software that brings relevance and intelligence to the storage device. They have also expanded into hardware solutions to meet specific application needs.
