Protestantism in Afghanistan

Protestants in Afghanistan have a long history. There was a congregation in Kabul but it was demolished by King Mohammed Zahir Shah.[1] There are unconfirmed reports that two native Afghan converts were hung in 1998 by the Taliban.[2] There have been disputed reports of the murder by Islamic militants of a Muslim cleric for "propagating Christianity".[3] There is an estimated 3,000 - 10,000 Christians in Afghansitan (See Afghan Christians). Most of these are former Muslims who have converted to Christianity.[4]
