Permanent Court of International Justice
The Permanent Court of International Justice, sometimes called the World Court, was the international court of the League of Nations, established in 1922. Between 1922 and 1940 the Court dealt with 38 contentious cases between States and delivered 27 advisory opinions.[1] It was replaced in 1946 by the International Court of Justice when the United Nations was organized.
The court was located in the Peace Palace in the Hague. Its activity was halted by the German occupation of the Netherlands of 1940, although the court was officially disbanded only in 1946.
