Paul Wegener
Paul Wegener (December 11 1874 – September 13 1948) was a German actor and film director. He was born in Arnoldsdorf (Jarantowice) in the Province of Prussia and died in Berlin.
Paul Wegener interrupted his law studies to join Max Reinhardt's acting troupe in 1906 and made his screen debut in 1913 in an adaptation of The Student of Prague. He is perhaps best remembered for his expressionistic silent Golem series, of which especially The Golem: How He Came Into the World (also released as The Golem, 1920, USA 1921) is famous. He also starred in Richard Oswald and Gabriel Pascal's horror anthology film Unheimliche Geschichten in 1932.
