The Ministry of Economic Development (Manat? ?hanga in M?ori) in New Zealand has an overarching goal of promoting the development of New Zealand's economy. However, it deals with policy in a wide range of different areas such as: energy, telecommunications and the radio spectrum, industry and regional development, intellectual property, consumer issues, tourism, international trade, and the regulatory environment. The Ministry serves seven Ministerial portfolios and six Associate Ministerial portfolios to a total of 11 Ministers and Associate Ministers (some of which have multiple portfolios) and The Chief Executive for the Ministry of Economic Development is David Smol.
