Australia has 8,222 islands within its maritime borders. The largest islands are, Tasmania 68,332 kmē; Melville Island 5,786 kmē; Kangaroo Island, 4,416 kmē; Groote Eylandt, 2,285 kmē; Bathurst Island, 1,693kmē; Fraser Island 1,653kmē; Flinders Island, 1,359 kmē; King Island 1,091 kmē; Mornington Island, 1 002 kmē. ,[1]
