A "biotechnology company" is a company whose products or services primarily use biotechnology methods for their production, design or delivery. Examining the list of the top 100 such companies, below, shows that many have negative revenue. This is consistent with the notion that only one in ten biotechnology companies were considered profitable in mid-2005.[1]
