The band was formed in 1981 in Belgrade. They released their debut album Maske za dvoje ("Masks for two") in 1984 in the following lineup: Igor Popovi? (vocals), Jane Par?ovski (guitar), Rade Bulatovi? (bass guitar), Milo? Petrovi? (keyboard) and Ivan Fece (drums, a former Luna member). Album vas produced by Sa?a Habi?. Album brought pop funk hits "Spiritus", "Piromanija", "Dama sa severa", "Pozovi me". With their second album Bomba u grudima ("Bomb in the chest"), recorded with new drummer Miroslav Karlovi?, they moved to pop-rock sound. Album was not well accepted by the critics and Jakarta disbaned in 1986.
