Ik Onkar is often used as a Sikh symbol
Ik Onkar[1] is often used as a Sikh symbol
Ik Onkar (also , , , Ik Onkar, Ek Onkar and other variants) means one God and is a central tenet of Sikh religious philosophy.[1] It is also a symbol of the unity of God in Sikhism, and is found on all religious scriptures and places such as Gurdwaras.

Ik Onkar is the first phrase in the Mul Mantra meaning "there is only one God".[2] It is found in the Gurmukhi language[3] and is a combination of two letters: Ik (one) and Onkar (God) - which is a line drawn over the first letter of Gurmukhi script, signifying the continuity, timelessness and eternal presence of God. The latter is derived from the Hindu symbol Aum and is derived from Sanskrit.
