Hi-Merima people

The Hi-Merima people live the region of the mid-Piranhas River, between the Juruá and the Purus rivers, in the state of Amazonas in Brazil. Their numbers are uncertain, but in 1943 it was estimated that the Hi-Merima consisted of more than 1,000 individuals. [1] They are considered isolated and mostly uncontacted. They have rejected any contact with outward societies, as well as with neighboring indian tribes, and even today are known for conflicts and hostile relations with neighboring populations. [1]
