About HDR

HevyDevy Records (also known as HDR) is a Canadian record label, founded in 1996 and owned by Strapping Young Lad and The Devin Townsend Band frontman, Devin "Devy" Townsend.

HDR is the founding record label for Canadian Speed/Thrash/Comedy Metal band the "Zimmers Hole" and is used to release all of Devin Townsend's solo and Devin Townsend Band material. While HDR has been known to release and distribute material from other bands, the only staple signees to the label are The Devin Townsend Band, Strapping Young Lad and the Zimmers Hole.

Devin produces most (if not all) recordings released by HDR, sometimes under an alias. He has previously used the alias "Dr. Skinny" when producing the Zimmers Hole's debut album Bound by Fire.

The front man for the Zimmers Hole (Chris "The Heathen" Valagao) is featured on almost every Devin Townsend album (including SYL albums). This is mostly because Chris and Devin have built a good friendship through the Zimmers Hole recording sessions.

Name

The majority (if not all) of the bands on HDR play some form of Heavy Metal, hence the name Hevy. Devy is a nickname of Devin Townsend, referenced in the Strapping Young Lad song "AAA" from the album "City".

Other Information

No news has been added to the official site since July 2007. This is largely due to the fact that Devin has been out of public view a fair bit since the hiatus of Strapping Young Lad and The Devin Townsend Band.
