Euro-English

Euro-English (also Euroenglish or Euro-Englisch) terms are English translations of European concepts that are not native to English-speaking countries.

Examples are the concept of spatial planning or something being "degressive", and the word "Euro-" or "euro". Punctuation, etc., may also differ from standard in order to enhance clarity.

It also refers to dialects of English spoken by Europeans for whom English is not their first language, especially since English is frequently used by two Europeans to communicate especially when neither of them know each other's language as their first language.

Common features of "euro-English" are non-English syntax or a profound accent which reveals the speaker's nationality. Nonetheless, "euro-English" has no central norm; that is, it simply reflects the English imperfectly acquired in particular geographical areas. Thus, euro-English punctuation might include low and high quotation marks (?O?) in central Europe, outward-facing double-angle quotation marks («O») in Iberia, and inward-facing angle quotation marks (»O«) elsewhere.
