Downer EDi () is an Australian company specialising in engineering and infrastructure management services to the power, rail, road, telecommunications, mining and mineral processing industries within Australia and New Zealand.
Downer EDI Engineering traces its history to New Zealand based company Downer & Co, which was established by engineering contractors Arnold Fielder Downer (born 4 February 1895 at Alexandra, Victoria, Australia — died Wellington on 16 July 1984) and George McLean in 1933.[1]
Downer & Co—later known as Downer Construction—created a considerable amount of the infrastructure in New Zealand. Today, Downer EDI Engineering, one of the subsidiaries, is a diversified engineering services group in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
