D-Block is an American rap group founded in the mid-1990s by Sheek Louch, Jadakiss and Styles P as The Warlox or The L.O.X..[1] In 2001, the group changed their name from "The L.O.X." to "D-Block". They were rumored to be signed to Def Jam Records;[2] however, they have announced a successful deal with Interscope Records.[3] As The Lox, the group had one hit single: "Money, Power & Respect" in 1998, which peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, and two albums: Money, Power & Respect in 1998 and We Are The Streets in 2000. Their most recent album, Prepare for Glory, was released 19 August.[4]
One of the original founders of The L.O.X. (before becoming D-Block), Jadakiss worked his way up from a battle rapper to a mainstream artist. He was discovered along with Sheek Louch and Styles P by Mary J. Blige, who introduced them to Sean Combs; they were later signed to Bad Boy Records as The L.O.X.. Jadakiss has released the two solo albums: Kiss Tha Game Goodbye in 2001 and Kiss of Death in 2004 and is set to release Kiss My Ass in 2008.
The last of the three original members of The L.O.X., Styles P has released three solo albums to date. His debut, A Gangster and a Gentleman, dropped in 2002. Styles' sophomore album, Time Is Money, was finally released in December of 2006 after being delayed for two years from the original release date. His third and most recent album, Super Gangster, Extraordinary Gentleman hit stores in 2007.
