Cucuteni
Cucuteni is a village in Ia?i County, Romania, having a population of 1,450. It is located 45 km from the city Ia?i and 10 km from the town of Tārgu Frumos. Neighbouring villages and communes are Todire?ti (in north), Tārgu Frumos and Cotnari (in east) and Ruginoasa (in west). The name of the village is derived from Romanian word "cucut?", meaning hemlock.
This was the place where in 1884 were found some ancient artifacts and the culture that produced them took the name of the village, Cucuteni culture.
In the village is located an archeological museum displaying artifacts of the Cucuteni culture and a 15th century church built during the rule of ?tefan cel Mare.
