Arabian Woodpecker

The Arabian Woodpecker (Dendrocopos dorae) is a species of woodpecker found in the Arabian Peninsula, primarily in southwestern Saudi Arabia and Yemen, in areas of montane forest.

Though scientifically described by George Latimer Bates and Norman Boyd Kinnear, the scientific name is said to be proposed by their occasional co-worker St. John Philby, after a woman he was fond of.
