Anthony Shriver
Anthony Paul Kennedy Shriver (born July 20 , 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts ) is an American activist for people with intellectual disabilities. In 1989 , he founded Best Buddies International , an international organization that helps people with intellectual disabilities to find employment and social opportunities.
He is part of the Kennedy family . His father is Sargent Shriver and his mother is Eunice Mary Kennedy who founded the Special Olympics movement in 1968 . He graduated from the Georgetown Preparatory School and Georgetown University as an undergraduate in 1988, with a double major in Theology and History. In 1987 , he had started a precursor Best Buddies volunteer program that paired university students with people with intellectual disabilities of similar age.
Shriver is married to Alina Shriver (née Mojica; b. January 5 , 1965 in Havana, Cuba ),[1] on July 2 , 1993 in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts and they have four children: Jorge Eduardo "Teddy" Nunez Shriver (b. September 4 , 1988 ; Adopted from Alina's Previous Marriage); Eunice Julia Shriver (b. January 4 , 1994 ); Francesca Maria Shriver (b. December 13 , 1994 ); ; and Carolina Fitzgerald Shriver (b. 2001). They currently live in Miami, Florida .
