Andrew D. Hamilton (born 1952), is the Benjamin Silliman Professor of Chemistry and also holds the rank of Professor of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry at Yale University. He is the former Provost of the University, taking office in October 2004 and leaving office on October 1, 2008. He became Provost after his predecessor, Susan Hockfield was appointed the 16th President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He previously served as Deputy Provost for Science and Technology for one year under Hockfield, and as chairman of the department of chemistry at Yale.
Hamilton lives in Guilford, Connecticut with his wife Jennifer. He has three children, who all attended or attend Yale: Allistair, Claire, and Malcolm.
