Afghanistani literally translates to "of or from Afghanistan" as the "i" suffix in Persian means "of or from" (e.g. Azerbaijani, Pakistani, Uzbekistani, etc.). More recently the term has been adopted by the English language and is now in English dictionaries such as Princeton University's lexicon WordNet.^[1]
