ADONIS (ADaptive Optics Near Infrared System) was the first Adaptive Optics system available to the astronomical community. This adaptive optics system was mounted on the ESO 3.6m telescope al La Silla Observatory.

here a brief description of the history of the AO system ADONIS is the final version of diverse Adaptive Optics prototypes named Come-on and Come-on +. It was offered in its final version in October 1996 as an official ESO instrument. It was decommissioned in 2001
