Buildings

• Heinävesi Church, the largest wooden church in Finland. Designed by Josef Stenbäck, built in 1890-1891 and consecrated in 1892.
• The World Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, IL until 1893. Many of the worlds best and brightest architects design what will be known as the White City. The planner for the exposition was Daniel Burnham.

Awards

• Royal Gold Medal - Cesar Daly.
• Grand Prix de Rome, architecture: Guillaume Tronchet.

Developments

• François Hennebique patented his system of reinforced concrete.
